Taco Seasoning

I usually don't buy spice mixes mostly because I like to control my flavors. Typically taco seasonings are a little too much for me - I feel like I taste the taco seasoning more than the meat. This is my mix that I have made in large batches and then use as much as I need.

Taco Seasoning
3 Tbsp Cumin
2 Tbsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Cayenne
1 Tbsp Salt
2 Tbsp Pepper

Mix and store in an air-tight container.

Tips:
I use about 3-4 Tbsp of this mix on each pound of meat. Adjust for your tastes.

Can I just say that I have NOT made tacos because I didn't have taco seasoning, not realizing that I did in my cupboard. What a good way to control the salt too. Thanks! Joni

OK this is genius. Seriously. I want to go make large batches of my spice concoctions now. Will try this one out. My taco seasoning is a random shaking of spices into the mixture.

I love using my homemade taco seasoning. it is so much more delicate and doesn't over power the taco itself.

this sounds like a great combo of flavors. I think I'll try it next time I make my favorite lentil tacos!

It's so simple isn't it? My husband makes our taco seasoning for us and it's awesome! I think you use the same ingredients that we do.

I love it. I will never buy the grocery store stuff again...saves on the sodium intake too!
