Macaroni Grill Review and Giveaway
When I was out of town for a couple weeks I bought my husband a bunch of frozen meals so that he would have to resort to eating out for two weeks straight. (Although he probably wouldn't mind as much as our wallets). I bought things like lasagnas, perogies, pizzas, stir fry mixes, etc. One delicious meal that we actually ate before I left was a meal provided by Macaroni Grill's new Frozen Entrees. First I have to say, I don't usually eat frozen meals for a few reasons: 1 - they always say they "serve two" but my husband and I go hungry. 2 - they don't contain as meany veggies as the packaging shows. 3 - they usually aren't that tasty.
But since we were able to try this one out - we would totally buy it again. We had plenty of food for the two of us and extra for Lou. Plus, it had plenty of veggies (if I was being even more lazy I probably wouldn't have made that salad). The meal was quite tasty. I was very impressed. It was their Basil Parmesan Chicken. Mmm.
Well, Lucky ducks - one of you gets to try one of their meals out too! They will send you a Macaroni Grill prize pack that includes one frozen sample of the Grilled Chicken Florentine variety, in addition to a serving bowl and pasta tongs (Which I happen to love - covered ends so they don't scratch your pans! But since we were able to try this one out - we would totally buy it again. We had plenty of food for the two of us and extra for Lou. Chex Giveaway
About a year ago I was training a new nurse and I found out that she had Celiac Disease. Now, I love bread and knew that that disease would be so hard for me. But then I found out so many things contain gluten - it is everywhere (even soy sauce!). Then a friend of mine's 11 year old daughter was diagnosed. She was having a hard time because she felt she was restricted from so many things. One of her favorite dishes was cold cereal. Well, I found out Chex is gluten free (except the wheat of course)! Lucky for her, she can still have one of my favorite treats - Muddy Buddies! (They also have lots of other gluten free recipes)
9 c Rice Chex®, Corn Chex® or Chocolate Chex® cereal (or combination)
1 c semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c peanut butter
1/4 c butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
Tip: Freeze your Muddy Buddies - you will never go back! The only downside is you do have to wait at least 15 more minutes to taste these frozen goodies.

Rubio's - Not Just Fish Tacos
My husband summed it up well when he tried my leftovers, "Oh, it isn't another Cafe Rio."
Last week Rubio's invited a few of us bloggers to try their delicious food. We were stuffed of delicious burritos, tacos, salads, and their variety of salsas. I knew about Rubio's long ago becuase my mom said they are her favorite fish tacos ever. (and she lives in Hawaii! She has had good fish.) But they have such a variety of flavors and dishes. My favorite dish was their roasted vegetable salad. With all this chicken, avocados, and a delicious dressing for 320 calories. I keep tellingi everyone that because I can't believe it. But it had so much flavor you didn't feel like you were eating 2000 calories less than some other fresh mex salads in town. They have other great options for the health conscious eater - grilled fish or chicken tacos, whole wheat tortillas, 4 different salads. They are great to substitue anything for anything if you want. I love that.
Everything I tasted was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. They were nice enough to donate a free meal to one lucky winner.

While searching the etsy web, I found some very cute recipe cards at SparklePaw's shop.
I love using recipe cards because I used to print the recipe from online multiple times. Now I just file them away and pull them out when I need them. I also like to use them for gifts - give the ingredients and/or tools to make a dish, then give them the recipe to make it! These cards would make any gift cuter.
SparklePaw is an assortment of original illustrated greeting cards, pocket mirrors and recipe cards featuring friendly, happy animals and creatures.

Review and Giveaway: Dippidee
Oh man. After looking at all these pictures, I am so sad I don't have anymore of these treats. They were delicious.
Dippidee opened 4 years ago. The name "Dippidee" holds true to its definition - "place of sweet surprises." Dippidee started from some great ideas and secret family recipes (seriously secret, all the manager wanted for her wedding was the buttercream recipe - she did not get it).
The store is quaint, unique, and delicious. They use top quality, local ingredients - but somehow maintain resonable prices.
Enough of jibber-jabber - lets look at some drool-worthy treat pictures.
This is just a sampling of some of their treats:
1 - Top selling soft Sugar Cookies - They come in all sorts of seasonal shapes and decorations. I usually don't like soft sugar cookies, these are delicious.
2 - Loaded Dippidee Bars - similar to a 7-layer bar. Rich. Yum.
3 - Heavenly Pieces - these are similar to a shortbread cookie with cream cheese frosting on top. I couldn't resist. They gave me two and I ate one in the car on the way home. It was worth the mess.
4 - Homemade Oreos - I am a sucker for these. Mmm.
5 - Brownie - Most of the frosted Brownies I have tasted, the frosting overpowers. As with everything else - Dippidee did not disappoint. These was a perfect balance.
We can't forget the cupcakes! All Dippidee's regular cupcakes are filled with a delicious compliment.
1 - White Chocolate Cupcake with Cream Cheese Filling and Caramel - You had me at Chocolate, Cream Cheese, and Caramel - Hello! This was one of my top 2 items.
2 - Red Velvet - I had never tasted red velvet before. I will probably go back for this again. Delicious.
3 - Vanilla Cupcake with Vanilla Mousse - sounds boring? Nope. This vanilla takes the cake. (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
3 - Little Devil Cupcakes - My favorite. This is the devil because I have been craving it again since I ate it. This one is cut so you could see the filling (and so I could eat it before waiting to take all the pictures).
The store was very fun to visit. Great ways to decorate a box if you decide to be nice and share (I ate mine before they could wrap it cute). I love that they have a rotating variety. There are always the top sellers, but then there is something new for people like me who want one classic and one new taste.
Oh - did I mention she makes fabulous birthday and wedding cakes. I wish I knew about her when I got married. I love this cake. Maybe for my 10 year anniversary we will celebrate big!
Dippidee did provide me with these delicious treats so I could let you know about them. But, they did not forget you!
