What's in Season - February

I hope you are all having a great February so far. It is so cold here I have even avoided the grocery store. But, if you are able to brave the weather and get out to the stores - here's what's is going to be the best!

Here's What's in Season for February:

From left to right (kind of):
Oranges
Cauliflower
Rutabaga (just learned the difference between rutabaga and a turnip is a rutabaga is a cross between a turnip and a cabbage)
Brussel Sprouts
Turnips
Broccoli
Apples
Tangerines (and all it's family members)
Endive
Grapefruit
Escarole
and Fennel

Enjoy the freshest produce!

Fennel. I've loved it every since the cooking club based around it.

And tangerines are my current addiction.

I love when you post. More! More!

I love these posts--and we love grapefruit around here. I have yet to try broiling it with a little brown sugar on top, but I'm anxious to do so!

How/What do you eat (with) endive? This has always puzzled me!

Lala - endive is great for salads (I would mix it in with other greens, it has a pretty strong flavor).
I have also seen it used for dips like hummus or spinach dip in place of chips.
Put a creamy salad (like a crab salad) and serve it in the endive for a fancy presentation.
Grill it for a warm edition to a salad.
